final major project- 'a centre for life on scilly'

Our Final Major Project was set on the Isles of Scilly- a small group of islands 28miles South West of Land's End. Working in collaboration with the Islands' Partnership to design a 'A Centre for Life on Scilly', it became clear from interpreting and defining the client's brief, that a development in such a location requires a lot of research, sensitivity and understanding of the logistical problems associated with building in such a remote location. Scale, sustainability and durability were all key, tempered by an understanding of the way of life, seasonal changes and delicate balance within both the local economy and community.
