drawings
Through most of my degree I have relied on hand-drawing and model-making, although I began using Vectorworks in my second year. The changes in the learning environment and circumstances surrounding Covid-19, meant that I was unable to hand-draw for my final project: I had no scanner at home, nor a camera good enough to photograph my models.
I decided to bite the bullet, and learn Revit, which has opened up a whole new world. Whilst I know there is so much more to learn, I feel
I now have a good basic knowledge, and have definitely passed a 'tipping point' in my learning and understanding. I am also competent in InDesign and Photoshop.
I love the fluidity and freedom of sketching and drawing by hand, especially the ability to think and draw, together, in plan and section.
I strongly believe that there is a creative process in hand-drawing which can be stifled by an over-reliance on the computer.
